Core Services We Support

Electronic Cross-Border Health Services

Who the service is for

Citizens traveling from Cyprus to another EU Member State

The Healthcare Professional you visit in another EU Member State supporting Electronic Cross-Border Health Services will have access to your patient summary, which includes information such as allergies, chronic conditions, and current medication. Additionally, through the ePrescription service, your doctor in your country of permanent residence can issue an electronic prescription, which can then be dispensed (Dispensation) at pharmacies in the destination country. The details of the dispensed medication are subsequently transmitted back to your country of permanent residence.

*This service applies to permanent residents of Cyprus holding a Cypriot ID card or EU citizens holding a permanent residence certificate.

Citizens visiting Cyprus from other EU Member States

The Healthcare Professional you visit in Cyprus will have access to your patient summary created in your country of origin, which includes information such as allergies, chronic conditions, and current medication. Additionally, you can dispense prescriptions issued in your country of origin at pharmacies in Cyprus (eDispensation).

Electronic Cross-Border Health Services

How to use Electronic Cross-Border Health Services (MyHealth@EU)

For Cypriot Citizens traveling within the EU

(Applies to permanent residents of Cyprus or EU citizens/ARC holders residing in Cyprus)

Before your trip
Before departing from Cyprus, it is necessary to visit your doctor to create or update your Patient Summary, as well as issue an ePrescription. Giving your consent is mandatory. You can monitor your registered health data via the Beneficiary Portal.

During your trip abroad
If you require medical care, inform the doctor in your destination country that you wish to use the MyHealth@EU Electronic Cross-Border Health Services and present your identification document. Once your details are verified in the system, the doctor will gain access to your patient summary (allergies, vaccinations, chronic conditions, and current medication) to provide appropriate treatment.

Similarly, if you wish to collect medicine from a pharmacy (eDispensation), visit an affiliated pharmacy in the host country and present your identification document. The pharmacist will locate the electronic prescription issued by your doctor in Cyprus and dispense the medication. Upon completion, the dispensation details will automatically be sent back to the Cyprus National Contact Point for eHealth (NCPeH).

Required Identification Documents: Ensure you carry appropriate identification documents. For Cypriot citizens, a Cypriot Civil ID is required. For EU citizens residing in Cyprus, a valid Residence Permit is required. If you hold a "Yellow Slip" (ARC Number) but have not yet received your residence permit card, you must carry your ARC number along with an official document from your country of origin displaying your date of birth.

Citizens visiting Cyprus from other EU Member States

(Applies to EU citizens traveling to or temporarily residing in Cyprus)

Visiting a Doctor in Cyprus (Access to Patient Summary)

When visiting a doctor in Cyprus, present the official identification document specified by your country of origin. By entering the required details, the doctor will connect to the secure portal of the National Contact Point for eHealth (NCPeH) to retrieve your Patient Summary, gaining immediate insight into your medical history to provide suitable care.

Dispensing a Prescription at a Pharmacy in Cyprus (eDispensation)

If you have an electronic prescription issued by a doctor in your country of permanent residence, visit a pharmacy in Cyprus with your identification document. The pharmacist will locate the prescription in the system and, upon verifying your identity, dispense the medication (dispensation is strictly restricted to the individual named on the prescription). Once completed, the dispensation details—such as the pharmacist's name, quantity, and date—are automatically sent back to your country.
